ODE TO MR. BILL O'REILLY OF FOX NEWS
On the night of April 7, 2003, the US Army, Second Brigade of the Third Infantry Division (3rdID), recently out of Fort Stewart, Georgia, USA, pulled up with Colonel David Perkins in a brand new M-1 Abrams A-1, E-2 Command and Control Main Battle Tank.
They parked directly in front of the Presidential Palace of Saddam in Baghdad. And on National-Global Cable Television. It was a very near bloodless battle that night.
Colonel Perkins astounded Greg Kelly, Brian Wilson and Alisyn Camerota of FOX news by waiving not just the Stars and Stripes but the Big RED Flag of the University of Georgia!! Go DOGS!!.
We have to extend praise and gratitude to Colonel David Hunt, US Army Green Beret, Retired, who gave us the "play by play" that long evening. Colonel Hunt amused us by also coining the phrase "Baghdad Bob" that night in an obvious reference to "Tokyo Rose" of WW2.

This is what we call in the US Army "GUNG HO ESPRIT DE CORPS."
Marines call it "SEMPER FI."
Either way it means "UNIT PRIDE."
Of course we know NOW, there was a lot more to go from 4-7-03 to 9-3-2011.
In the heat of all that Bravery, Boldness, Courage, Victory and Casualty, I became a devoted FOX NEWS FAN.
REALIZING the tremendous Historical Importance of this EVENT, I pumped this BROADCAST into my 1000 Watt TEAC RECEIVER and out the Back Yard Speakers.
My Neighbors were NOT as THRILLED as I was.
After buying beers for them, I did LOWER THAT VOLUME and watch the rest of the broadcast on FOX NEWS.
IT IS ONE OF THE MOST ICONIC BROADCASTS OF THIS NEW CENTURY.
I am hoping FOX NEWS will replay the entire Broadcast for this 10th Anniversary.

Back then in 2003 we had the regulars, O'Reilly, Hannity, Van Susteren, Cavuto but we also had Laurie Dhue, Donna Fiducia, and Greg Kelly, a US Marine himself.
Since that glorious night of 4-7-2003, which I taped verbatim, FOX NEWS has become the NEWS LEADER. FOX NEWS has replaced CNN. Who watches the Networks?
Much of the reason for the success of FOX NEWS is the brilliance, audacity, boldness and GUNG HO ESPRIT DE CORPS of Mr. William (Billy) O'Reilly.
You can compare him to Walter Winchell, Mike Wallace and Walter Cronkite ROLLED into ONE EXQUISITE News Journalist.
